Mia Smith

Apprentice Therapist

Mia (she/her) is attaining her Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Denver, and holds a Bachelor's in Applied Psychology with minors in Coaching and Medical Sociology.

Mia aims to facilitate an environment where the client feels comfortable and safe showing up as their most authentic self. She invites value and identity exploration, taking a look at the life experiences that shape the individual, and working to understand, accept, and reconstruct undesirable thought patterns. Mia takes on a person-centered approach, addressing the various physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects that make up the human experience. It's highly important to Mia that individuals feel heard through sharing their own experience, understanding who they are, and honoring their values. Individuals feeling confident and comfortable in their skin is one of her priorities. It is with great passion that Mia supports and empowers people to live true to their ever-growing story.

Mia specializes in work with athletes and performers, students of all ages, high risk occupations, LGBTQ+ populations, sexuality exploration, women's issues, mindfulness-oriented work, thought restructuring, confidence and self talk, value exploration, self regulation, and stress management.

Individuals striving to understand the way experiences shape their present self and live in accordance with their value system may benefit from working with Mia.

Along with coaching youth track & field athletes, Mia completed her externship at her collegiate athletic training office, gaining insight into the mental and physical impact of high-pressure performance. In addition, Mia currently works with local teams for mental performance optimization on an individual and team basis.

You can find Mia listening to jazz in the morning, spending time in nature, taking endless amounts of pictures, and trying new coffee shops and restaurants every chance she can get.
