What Makes Khesed Unique?

At Khesed, we're redefining access to mental health care. We know that therapy can be expensive and inaccessible for many, which is why we’ve developed affordable and free therapy programs that stand out in several key ways:

Our Business Model

Centering the Marginalized

At Khesed, we believe in centering those who are often pushed to the margins. This includes offering therapy programs that address the unique needs of underserved communities. Our free therapy programs focus on communities disproportionately affected by the lack of affordable mental health care. Whether it's a result of economic hardship or the absence of therapists who can relate to their experiences, we provide care where it's needed most.

Assigning Clients by Fit, Not Payment

At Khesed, we assign clients based on the best therapeutic and relational fit, not their ability to pay. This means we focus on making meaningful and culturally-centered connections between therapists and clients for the best outcomes.

Diverse and Inclusive Therapist Support

Khesed is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, not only for our clients but also within our team of therapists.

  • We prioritize hiring therapists from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that our clients can work with someone who understands their lived experiences.

  • We offer free supervision and continuing education to therapists from diverse backgrounds, equipping them with the tools to provide the best possible care to the communities we serve.

  • We provide unique therapist programs with specialized support (i.e. BIPOC Therapist Program) to better serve our therapists and clients.

  • Our clinical training focuses on enhancing cultural competency and tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of marginalized and underserved populations.

By investing in our therapists, we ensure they are well-prepared to deliver compassionate, expert care that truly makes a difference.

Eliminating the Top Barriers to Mental Health Care

At Khesed, we understand that the biggest barrier to accessing mental health care is cost. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to remove this obstacle by offering therapy at 60% of the market rate and providing up to a year of free therapy for those who qualify. By focusing on affordability, we ensure that financial constraints don't stand in the way of people getting the care they need. At Khesed, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, high-quality mental health support, regardless of their ability to pay.

Khesed eliminates the access barrier to mental health care in the U.S. by offering both virtual and in-person therapy options, ensuring that clients can access care in the way that works best for them. We also prioritize diverse therapists, including Spanish-speaking therapists, to meet the cultural and linguistic needs of the communities we serve. Plus, with no waitlists to start therapy, Khesed ensures that people can receive timely support when they need it most, removing obstacles that often delay or prevent individuals from getting the care they deserve.

Minimizing Costs, Maximizing Impact

By keeping our overhead costs low, we’re able to maximize therapist reimbursement while minimizing out-of-pocket costs for clients. This balance allows us to focus on the quality of care.

Responsive to Current Events

Khesed responds to the mental health needs that arise from current events (i.e. Club Q Tragedy). Our programs are designed to address the effects of crises that disproportionately affect communities with limited access to mental health services (i.e. Workplace Violence Program). Our therapists are subject matter experts in these areas, providing specialized support when it's needed most.

Our Programs

Free Therapy Programs

We offer up to a year of free therapy for those who qualify, especially individuals and communities who have been disproportionately impacted by lack of access to affordable mental health care.

Affordable Therapy Programs

Our therapy rates are $80/hour (about 50% of the market rate), ensuring that quality mental health care remains within reach for more people.

Corporate Therapy Program for Restaurants

Khesed's Corporate Therapy Program is tailored specifically for the restaurant industry, where mental health challenges are often high and access to care is low. With 70% of restaurant workers lacking insurance or financial resources for therapy, Khesed steps in to provide free, high-quality mental health support for staff. Our program partners directly with restaurants to offer therapy sessions that prioritize workers' well-being, helping to reduce burnout, stress, and turnover. By focusing on the unique needs of the restaurant industry, Khesed is making mental health care accessible to those who need it most, creating healthier, more resilient workplaces.

Our Leadership

Transgender Therapist Started and Led

Khesed was created by a transgender therapist who understands the challenges clients face. They ensure our services are sensitive to the needs of marginalized communities. Our executive leadership are also therapists who prioritize mental health expertise and compassionate care. Inclusivity is at the heart of who we are and what we do.
