Marissa Song
Contract Therapist
Marissa (she/her/hers) has a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor's in Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor candidate (LPCC).
Marissa hopes to foster a warm alliance between client and therapist built on mutual trust and respect for the client's experiences. She believes in the importance of meeting clients where they are and respecting them as the experts of their own experiences. Marissa invites clients to share their stories and, in that process, explore their identities and values. She considers it an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to walk alongside others in their mental health journeys.
Marissa finds joy and hope in witnessing and sharing in the vulnerability, empowerment, growth, and self-compassion that can arise in the therapeutic process. She specializes in individual adult grief work (particularly death loss/bereavement and anticipatory grief), caregiver issues/"burnout," perfectionism, and working with AAPI clients. People who are experiencing grief and loss, are looking to find meaning/hope in difficult experiences, and/or are looking to find meaningful connection may benefit from partnering with Marissa.
Marissa has experience working in the hospice setting, providing grief support to the loved ones and family members of patients.
Marissa enjoys being in the mountains with her dog, Mandu ("dumpling" in Korean), cooking with her mom and partner, visiting her sister in Japan, and spending sunny days in the park with her friends and community.
